Here's How To Hide The Number Of Likes On Instagram And Facebook

JAKARTA - After undergoing a trial process for more than two years, the company finally released a feature to hide the number of Likes on Instagram and Facebook. If this feature is turned on, users won't be able to see the number of Likes on someone's upload. Not only that but the content that users like can't be seen by other users.

This decision was given by the company after constant pressure from policymakers and experts. Many consider that the world's largest social media platform needs to make changes in order to make a positive impact on society.

According to research by the UK's Royal Society for Public Health, the Instagram service is rated "the most damaging to the health and wellbeing of the younger generation". And based on the results of the study, the researchers requested that Facebook be willing to remove the like button.

Experts' findings, the Like button on both platforms is a source of anxiety and the emergence of new social pressures. Thus, with the removal of the button, the researchers assessed that the younger generation could be free from anxiety and social pressures.

It Frees the Users

"We're trialing hiding the number of Likes to see if it can properly reduce user pressure during an active stay on Instagram", an Instagram spokesperson said, quoted by The Verge on May 26.

An Instagram spokesperson also revealed that not all users consider Like to be dangerous. Some find it disturbing, but many consider it to be a nuisance.

"Especially users who use the number of Likes to get what is trending or popular. Therefore, we give you (user, -red) choice", he explained.

Yes, the final result after a long trial, the company finally set to hide Like feature as an option. So, users who are disturbed can immediately activate the feature.
