Marcell Darwin Often Ridiculed by His Own Children While Learning to Read Together

JAKARTA - Actor Marcell Darwin, who is a convert, shared a funny story while studying Islam with his son. He admitted that he was often "bullied" by his own son when trying to memorize short letters of the Quran.

"I'm more bullied by my son," said Marcell laughing in Jakarta, not long ago.

According to him, small children have a much faster ability to memorize than adults. This is what makes him often feel embarrassed in front of his child.

"Maybe for small children it is easier to learn memorization than me who already knows a lot, already knows a lot of languages," he explained.

The child often teased him in a cute way. "Ah Papa can't, Papa can't. Try here, I'm Qulhu ..." said Marcell, imitating his son's words.

Although often teased, Marcell is not discouraged at all. The jokes from his son actually became the biggest motivation for him to continue to learn.

"It makes me not want to lose to my child. When he can, I can't? I have to try again," he said.

He sees this moment as a fun challenge. For him, learning religion with children creates a deeper spiritual bond between them.

The wife, Nabila Faisal, also did not give a target that was burdensome. "The important thing is when he asks, I have to have one that I can," said Marcell.
