Minister of Transportation Dudy ensures that all transportation in Central Java is ready to welcome Nataru

JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi has ensured that a number of transportation nodes in Central Java Province are ready to face the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 (Nataru) holidays.

Dudy also directly reviewed the stations, ports, airports, and terminals in Central Java. Considering that, based on a survey conducted by the Transportation Policy Agency (BKT), there will be 16.93 percent or around 20.23 million people visiting Central Java.

"The movement of people in Central Java during the 2025/2026 Christmas holiday is predicted to be quite high, as are the transport nodes. Therefore, I want to ensure that the transport facilities and infrastructure in this region are in good condition and ready to serve the community during that period," said Dudy, in an official statement, Monday, December 15.

According to the BKT survey, Central Java Province ranks first as the national favorite destination during the Nataru holiday. A number of transport nodes in Central Java are also predicted to be the most crowded.

Tawang Station ranks fourth as the most crowded destination station with a predicted number of passengers of 4.55 percent or around 284,000 people, ranked sixth is Solo Balapan Station with a predicted number of passengers of 3.20 percent or around 200,000 people.

Furthermore, the seventh ranking is Purwokerto Station with a predicted number of passengers of 3.03 percent or around 188,000 people, and the tenth ranking is Kutoarjo Station with a predicted number of passengers of 2.64 percent or around 165,000 people.

Meanwhile, Tirtonadi Terminal ranks seventh as the busiest destination terminal with a predicted number of passengers of 2.85 percent or around 205,000 people.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Yani International Airport ranked seventh as the busiest destination airport with a passenger forecast of 3.23 percent or around 138,000 people.

In the railway sector, Dudy reviewed Tawang Station and Weleri Station and their facilities, then visited a number of disaster-prone points, such as floods and landslides on the Semarang-Gambringan line.

Dudy ordered the Ministry of Transportation's Directorate General of Railways to mitigate risks in this aspect, including regularly checking a number of old bridges and anticipating the impact of land subsidence that causes water puddles on train lines in the Pekalongan area.

In the maritime sector, Dudy reviewed the Tanjung Emas Port and held a coordination meeting with a number of stakeholders, including PT Pelindo, PT PELNI, and PT Dharma Lautan Utama.

He also ordered the Maritime Transportation Directorate General to continue to coordinate and collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure that the safety and security of shipping during the Nataru transportation period is truly prioritized.

"The readiness and risk mitigation at Tanjung Emas Port is good, especially against the risk of extreme weather, port congestion, flash floods, and delays to ship accidents," he said.

Furthermore, Minister of Transportation Dudy reviewed the Bawen Type A Terminal and witnessed the ramp check activities for several inter-city inter-provincial buses.

He assessed that all transportation stakeholders in Central Java were ready to welcome the 2025/2026 Christmas holiday. He was also optimistic that the movement of the community during this period could be well controlled.

"All transportation stakeholders must prioritize safety aspects. I ask all stakeholders in all matras to conduct ramp checks regularly and according to procedures. Hopefully, Zero Accident and Zero Fatality can be realized in the implementation of Nataru 2025/2026," he said.
