Google Upgrades Gemini 2.5 Flash, AI Conversations Are Now More Natural and Less Misunderstood
JAKARTA - Google has again upgraded its flagship artificial intelligence. This time, the technology giant released an update for Gemini 2.5 Flash Native Audio which is claimed to make conversations with AI feel smoother, more contextual, and no longer interrupt user conversations at the wrong time.
In an announcement released on December 12, 2025, Google said this update was focused on live voice agents. The target is clear: make human interaction with the machine closer to natural human-to-human chat, rather than just rigid commands from the early era of virtual assistants.
One of the main improvements is in the ability to call functions. Gemini is now more precise in determining when to call external functions, such as retrieving real-time data, then inserting it directly into the audio response without breaking the conversation flow. In short, this AI knows better when to "check first" before answering, and does so without looking hard.
Google has also improved Gemini's compliance with developer instructions. The accuracy rate in following instructions now reaches 90%, up from the previous 84%. This figure is important, especially for complex workflows, where a small mistake can make the AI output deviate far. In simple terms: Gemini is now more obedient and rarely ngeyel.
In terms of user experience, Gemini 2.5 Flash Native Audio is now smarter in remembering the context of the previous conversation. This makes the dialogue feel more connected and does not repeat topics as if it forgot what was just discussed. The AI is still a machine, but short-term amnesia is starting to be abandoned.
Josh Woodward, VP of Google Labs, Gemini, and AI Studio, added two small but crucial features. First, Gemini Live will no longer immediately cut users just because the pause is a little longer. Second, users can turn off the microphone when Gemini is talking, so that there are no accidental interruptions. Simple features, but very human.
Google says this update is designed to improve Gemini's ability to handle complex workflows, navigate user instructions, and keep conversations natural. The update has already been rolled out to Gemini Live, Search Live, Google AI Studio, and Vertex AI.
This move confirms Google's ambition to make Gemini not just a digital assistant, but a conversational partner that can be discussed without drama. AI may not be able to chat about the weather with full feeling, but at least now he knows when to be silent, listen, and then answer relevantly.
