"I ask the National Police Chief to take firm action, dismiss them dishonorably, and prosecute the six members of the National Police if they are proven guilty in law. The member of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the Nusa Tenggara Timur I electoral district assessed that firm action against violations of the law by the police was an important part of the Polri reform agenda to ensure justice and protection of human rights.

According to him, the incident was a serious violation of the principle of human rights protection and had injured the public sense of justice.

"I strongly condemn the behavior of the police who act like thugs and take the lives of ordinary people. Moreover, the victim is an NTT person. As an NTT person, I am very hurt to see this kind of event," said Melchias.

He also assessed that the case should be a serious concern for the National Police Reform Acceleration Commission to thoroughly repair the police institution, especially regarding the behavior and mentality of the officers in the field.

Previously, the case of beating occurred in the Kalibata, Pancoran, South Jakarta area, on Thursday, December 11, which resulted in two people dying.

A day after the incident, the National Police announced the designation of six members of the National Police as suspects. The six are Brigadier IAM, Brigadier JLA, Brigadier RGW, Brigadier IAB, Brigadier BN, and Brigadier AM.
