Oya River Gerus Bank, Bantul Moving Pasang Bronjong and Flow Engineering

Bantul - The Bantul Regency Government, Yogyakarta Special Region, will immediately install a stone-filled iron wire fence or fence as a retaining wall for the Oya River in the Srikeminut area, Sriharjo Village, Imogiri District, which collapsed some time ago.

Head of the Public Works, Housing and Settlements Service of Bantul, Jimmy Alran Manumpak Simbolon, said that the team deployed had engineered the flow of the Oya River so that the flow flowed to the middle and did not directly hit the cliff that collapsed.

English:

"Yesterday we secured the river and formed river engineering, then we arranged it first. After that, we only installed a bronjong on the bank," said Jimmy in Bantul, Antara, Sunday, December 14.

English:

According to him, the installation of the bridge is an initial step in handling the road that was broken due to the landslide of the Oya River in Sriharjo which was triggered by flooding due to extreme weather on November 21. Until now, the progress of handling at the location has reached about 30 to 40 percent.

English:

Jimmy admitted that there were a number of obstacles in the process of working. Therefore, his party coordinated and asked for input and advice from the Gadjah Mada University (UGM) team and a number of other related parties.

English:

He said that installing the bridge on the Oya River bank took a long time. However, the local government targets that all the work can be completed before the end of 2025.

English:

"If for handling the road that is broken by being buried, it is not the main thing, because the handling is not permanent. So, we are coordinating with UGM for what the permanent handling is like," he said.

English:

Jimmy also said that his party was still studying the form of permanent handling at the location, considering that a similar disaster had occurred the previous year. Currently, there are two permanent handling options that are still in the discussion stage.

English:

"Whether the main road remains there or there is a bridge that is diverted to the foot of the hill. The decision cannot be quick, especially since this rainy season has not reached its peak," he said.

English:

Meanwhile, the Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Bantul Mujahid Amrudin said that the process of dredging sedimentation on the former landslide and installing a weir as a retaining wall of the Oya River is still ongoing.

English:

"Along with the construction of the emergency bridge, the river bank has been bridged. Later the landslide will be dredged. The target is before Christmas is completed, so that residents at least feel safer with the conditions in Srikeminut," said Mujahid.
