Pertamina installs solar power plant at Aceh Tamiang evacuation post
JAKARTA - PT Pertamina (Persero) has installed a Solar Power Plant (PLTS) at a number of evacuation posts in Aceh Tamiang Regency to support the recovery of emergency conditions after the recent flood.

A total of seven PLTS packages were installed at evacuation points. Each unit has a capacity of 590 Wp, equipped with a 1,000 Wp inverter, a 2,000 Wh battery, and a 40 watt Solar LED. Each PLTS unit can be lit for 8 hours per day.

The energy that is being channeled now supports four vital sectors, namely the operation of the Public Kitchen, the lighting of the people's evacuation tents, the lighting of the Water Treatment Plant (WTP), and the Pertamina Volunteer Post for Care.

Vice President of Corporate Communication PT Pertamina (Persero), Muhammad Baron, said the solar power plant began operating and lighting the Karang Baru evacuation post, Aceh Tamiang, since yesterday.

Baron said the PLTS assistance was part of the Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program.

"This program is a form of concern for people affected by disasters in Aceh Tamiang. Pertamina distributes this PLTS assistance to support the recovery of emergency conditions after the disaster," Baron said in an official statement, Sunday, December 14.

Baron said the presence of PLTS in the refugee camp was very helpful for refugees and volunteers, especially for lighting activities at night, as well as a means to increase the battery power of mobile phones as the main means of communication.

For information, up to two weeks after the flood, the Aceh Tamiang area is still isolated. Most of this area can only be accessed on foot, and some can be reached by two-wheeled vehicles.

This condition makes it difficult for aid to reach the residents of Aceh Tamiang. Not only food, the electricity is out, and clean water is also difficult to get.
