Bailey Bridge in Sikabau West Pasaman is Completed, Can Be Used by the Community

JAKARTA - The construction of a 18-meter bailey bridge in Sikabau, West Pasaman Regency, West Sumatra (Sumbar), was completed by the TNI to open transportation access in the area.

"The construction of the bailey bridge in Sikabau, West Pasaman Regency is one hundred percent and can be operationalized for the benefit of the community," said the Commander of XX Tuanku Imam Bonjol, Major General Arief Gajah Mada when reviewing the operation of the bridge with the local government in Simpang Empat, Sunday, quoted by Antara.

According to him, to date, TNI personnel have built four bailey bridge units in the Kodam XX Tuanku Imam Bonjol area. Three of them have been completed 100 percent, while the other unit in Padang Pariaman is close to 100 percent.

"Based on the order from the President, we are ready to build damaged bridges affected by disasters to isolated areas so that the economy and community activities return to normal," he said.

While in West Pasaman Regency, the Commander discussed with the Regent of West Pasaman Yulianto and the people affected by the disaster. The Commander asked the people to remain enthusiastic and to work together to recover after the natural disaster.

The construction of this bailey bridge is also to normalize economic activities and mobilize the community in Ranah Koto Tinggi Village and other villages located on the coast of West Pasaman Regency.

The Regent of West Pasaman, Yulianto, expressed his gratitude for the construction of the bridge by the TNI which had just been completed six days ago.

"On behalf of the local government and the community, we are grateful, because the TNI has helped the people of West Pasaman," he said.

He asked, the community could care for and maintain the bridge, because it is an important asset before the construction of a permanent bridge.

The existence of the bridge is very vital for the life and continuity of the movement of the community's economy.

The West Pasaman Regency Government will report the damage to public facilities, especially bridges, to the central government so that assistance can be provided for the benefit of the community during this disaster recovery.

"In West Pasaman there are a number of bridges and roads that were damaged by the flood," he said.
