WNA Died Trapped on a Bridge in Badung Bali, Police Suspected Due to Flood Breach
Badung - The Badung Police (Polres) in Bali revealed that a foreign citizen (WNA) died allegedly due to breaking through the flood when heavy rain hit Krisnantara Street, Tibubeneng Village, North Kuta District, Badung on Sunday, December 14 at 01.10 Wita.
The Acting Head of the Sihumas Kasubsipenmas of the Badung Police, Aiptu Ni Nyoman Ayu Inastuti, stated that the foreign national of female gender, whose identity has not yet been known, was allegedly swept away by the flood with a motorcycle stuck between the bridge wall and the wood carried by the water flow.
"The victim was found at 04.40 WITA when the river receded, under the bridge on the road to Canggu Pertiwi in a dead state, where the victim's position was stuck between the bridge wall and the wooden slats that were stuck under the bridge," said Ayu in Badung, Sunday, quoted by Antara.
He said the presence of the foreign nationals was only known at 04.40 Wita after the water began to recede.
The evacuation of the victim was successfully carried out at 10.40 Wita by the Bali Provincial Basarnas Team.
However, the vehicle suspected of being used by the victim could not be evacuated because the vehicle was stuck in the bridge manhole with high water conditions. The victim's identity has not been found by officers during the evacuation.
"For the victim's vehicle, it has not been evacuated because of the condition of being stuck inside the bridge culvert and the condition of the water which is still large makes it difficult to evacuate," he said.
