PSIM Yogyakarta Mission Tries to Defeat PSIS Semarang
YOGYAKARTA - The PSIM Yogyakarta trial match against PSIS Semarang as a warm-up event before facing Persijap Jepara in the Super League competition. PSIM carries out a mission in the trial held at the Yogyakarta Independent School (YIS) Field, Saturday, December 13, 2025 afternoon WIB.
PSIM's first trial match in the middle of the competition break by welcoming PSIS, who are now playing in the Championship. The match was won by PSIM with a score of 2-0 through goals from Fahreza Sudin and Kasim Botan.
Even though they won, coach Jean-Paul Van Gastel didn't think too much about the final result. This is because it is a warm-up event for PSIM before facing Persijap.
Van Gastel's main mission is none other than to restore the players' fitness after a week-long vacation. He wants to see the physical response and tactical understanding of his players.
"The result of this match is certainly good. But for me, the result is not something important," said Van Gastel.
"From the match after the break, we tried to get back into the rhythm. In addition, focus on the physical and tactical aspects of the game that we want to implement," said the Dutch coach.
Van Gastel admitted that his team had trouble developing the game. Moreover, the team played on a field with less good conditions.
"The field conditions are a little less good. We have difficulty controlling the game because we like the style of play," he said.
"With the conditions of the field like that, plus the opponent playing deeper, the match becomes difficult," said Van Gastel.
Van Gastel noted a number of important evaluation points from this friendly match. He realized that there were still many gaps that needed to be immediately fixed. Including the physical condition of the players who were in the spotlight ahead of the away match.
"We can improve a lot of things. Obviously, there is almost never a perfect game, so there are always things to improve," the former Feyenoord player said.
"The physical aspect also needs to be improved. We have to be ready for the match against Jepara. For me, the score is not important. However, I want to see the right attitude from the players as a whole," said Van Gastel.
Even though the PSIM trend in the Super League is quite positive, Van Gastel does not want the players to be complacent. "We must remain humble and modest, considering that we are a promotion team in the Super League this season. However, I also want to see proof that we deserve to be in this position," he said.
