Successful in Electric Cars, BYD is Ready to Expand the Market with PHEV Technology in Indonesia

JAKARTA - BYD is one of the brands that are considered successful in the Indonesian market, even today this Chinese brand controls the electric car market share of 57 percent, and has sold more than 47,000 vehicles.

Even though it is still playing in the pure electric car segment, BYD does not rule out the possibility of playing in other segments including Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV).

"Until now, BYD's focus is the EV industry, in line with the vision of the government. But we do not rule out the possibility of transitional technology and indeed we have PHEVs," said Head of PR & Government Relations of PT BYD Motor Indonesia, Luther Panjaitan, when met in the area, Sentul, Bogor, some time ago.

Furthermore, he said, PHEV technology does have a much more significant contribution to efficiency than ordinary hybrids, and BYD is ready to bring it to Indonesia.

English:

"If we own the product in terms of patents, it is not impossible that in the near future we can bring it (to Indonesia)," he added.

Indeed, referring to the Chinese market, BYD has many PHEV car models, even in some neighboring countries they have sold the product, the latest being the Denza B5 and B8 in the Australian market which can already be ordered.

So, BYD is open to expanding its segment in Indonesia by planning to bring PHEV technology to the national automotive market. Will next year be a momentum? of course it's worth waiting for.
