SEA Games 2025: Men's Singles Have Already Guaranteed Gold, Indonesia Has the Chance to Add Two More Gold from Badminton

JAKARTA - Indonesian badminton has the opportunity to win three gold medals in the individual category of the 2025 SEA Games. One gold is certain to be in the hands of the all-Indonesian final in the men's singles sector.

The certainty was obtained after Mohammad Zaki Ubaidillah and Alwi Farhan both stepped into the final. Both of them defeated representatives from Malaysia.

Ubed, nicknamed Zaki Ubaidillah, won two straight games in the semifinals against Leong Jun Hao with a score of 21-18 and 21-13.

Meanwhile, Alwi had to fight three sets to beat Justin Hoh with a score of 21-10, 15-21, and 21-14.

Another sector that has the opportunity to win a gold medal is the men's doubles through Sabar Karyaman/Muhammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani. They advanced to the final after defeating the Malaysian pair, Man Wei Chong/Tee Kai Wun two straight games 21-16 and 21-17.

The third seeded pair will be challenged by the first seeded pair from the neighboring country, Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik, in the final match.

The last sector that also has the chance to add gold to Indonesia is the women's doubles through Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Meilysa Trias Puspita Sari.

They won easily in the semifinals when they met the Vietnamese representative, Bui Bich Phuong/Vu Thi Trang, with a score of 21-10 and 21-9.

In fact, Indonesia placed eight representatives in the semifinals on Saturday, December 13, 2025. Unfortunately, four representatives had to be eliminated and were content with a bronze medal.

In the women's singles, Putri Kusuma Wardani had to admit the superiority of the host representative, Supanida Katethong, two straight games, 18-21 and 16-21.

Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana's steps also stopped in the semifinals when they lost to Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik - who will be Sabar/Reza's opponent in the final - two games 10-21 and 12-21.

Then, Rachel Allessya Rose/Febi Setianingrum failed to follow in Febriana/Meilysa's footsteps. They were stopped by the first seeded from Malaysia, Perly Tan/Thinaah Muralitharan, 14-21, 21-19, and 16-21.

The Malaysian doubles will meet Febriana/Meilysa in the final to fight for gold.

The last representative who stopped in the semifinals was the mixed doubles Jafar Hidayatullah/Felisha Pasaribu. They lost two games directly against the host doubles, the second place, Dechapol Puavaranukroh/Supissara Paewsampran, 17-21 and 15-21.

All final matches will be played on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at Gymnasium 4, Thammasat University Rangsit Campus, Bangkok.
