SpaceX Quietly Removes Cheapest Starlink Package in the US
JAKARTA - SpaceX has quietly removed the 100Mbps Residential package from the US Starlink service. In fact, the cheapest package sold for 40 US dollars (Rp660 thousand) per month was only released in November 2025.
The disappearance of this subscription package was revealed after Starlink customers in the US complained on Reddit. They said that the 100Mbps package offer was missing, both from the Starlink.com website and its official application.
"I upgraded because a lot of families will be visiting during Thanksgiving and now I can't go back to the $40-a-month plan," one user wrote on Reddit, citing PC Mag on Saturday, December 13, 2025.
The 100Mbps package is in high demand because of its lower price than the standard Residential package. The package is sold for 120 US dollars (Rp1.9 million) per month even though the download speed is limited to 100Mbps.
However, the presence of the 100Mbps Residential package is not evenly distributed. This package only appears in a number of areas. Most likely, the package is available in areas with excess Starlink network capacity.
The first region to lose this cheapest package is Nebraska. This package is also seen in the Illinois and Nevada regions, but its fate is the same as Nebraska, where SpaceX has already removed it. Other regions that lost the package were Maine.
This sudden removal has raised speculation about SpaceX's pricing strategy and network capacity management in the US. To date, SpaceX has not made any official statements regarding this unexpected change.
