Hutama Karya Ready to Rehabilitate South Sulawesi DPRD and Makassar City Buildings Damaged by August Demo

JAKARTA - PT Hutama Karya (Persero) or HK rehabilitates the South Sulawesi Provincial DPRD (Sulsel) and Makassar City DPRD buildings that were damaged by the protest action last August.

Head of the South Sulawesi Building, Infrastructure and Area Arrangement Office (BPBPK) of the Ministry of PU Baskoro Elmiawan emphasized that the rehabilitation of the two projects is an important step to ensure the smooth functioning of the people's representative institutions.

The DPRD building is one of the main symbols of local democracy, because this is where various important decisions for the community are made.

"We hope that this rehabilitation project can immediately enter the implementation phase after all technical and administrative preparations are completed, so that the activities of the council and services to the community can run optimally in a safe and comfortable environment," said Baskoro in an official statement, quoted Saturday, December 13.

The scope of rehabilitation and reconstruction is planned to include a thorough renovation of architectural elements, ranging from floors, ceilings, walls, frames, roofs to the facade of the building.

The rearrangement of the space is directed so that the relationship between workspaces, faction spaces, meeting rooms and public areas becomes more efficient and easily accessible.

The main meeting room and commission room are planned to have a larger capacity and be more flexible. So, it can accommodate working meetings and hearings with various groups of people.

For the South Sulawesi Provincial DPRD complex, the four-story main building and the ten-story tower building are the center of legislative activities, supported by supporting buildings such as the aspiration building, canteen, electrical warehouse and guard post.

Then, in Makassar, the arrangement is focused on restoring the function of the city DPRD building as a meeting point between the city government and residents, with attention to the flow of visitor circulation, separation of public zones and work areas, and the quality of service spaces.

After completion, the two complexes are expected to become a more organized legislative working environment, friendly to the public and adaptive to the needs of meetings and consultations.

The Company plans to utilize Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology in detailed planning and construction coordination.

The digital modeling allows the identification of potential collisions between structural, architectural and mechanical-electrical works at an earlier stage. Thus, the risk of errors in the field can be suppressed.

In addition, scanning technology such as Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) will be used to update the existing condition data of buildings, especially at points that are damaged, so that repair interventions can be designed more accurately.

On the safety side, Hutama Karya implements the Construction Safety Management System (SMKK) and HK Shield internal monitoring system to ensure that work in the field follows strict safety standards.

The approach includes managing the risk of accidents at work, supervising access to construction areas, and implementing emergency response procedures.

In the operational phase, the improvement of the building security system, including fire protection and area surveillance, is expected to make the DPRD complex more ready to face the dynamics of public activities.
