No Need to Fear Imprisonment, BNN Opens Drug Rehabilitation for the Public

JAKARTA - The Head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) RI, Komjen Suyudi Ario Seto, emphasized that recovery from drug abuse is the basic human right.

Suyudi said that through the BNN RI Cawang Reporting Obliged Institution Clinic (IPWL), the public can report and undergo rehabilitation without fear of being convicted, without stigma, and without discrimination.

"Recovery is the right of every human being. The state is present to ensure that every citizen who wants to recover from drug addiction gets the protection, assistance, and rehabilitation services they deserve," Suyudi told reporters, Saturday, December 13.

He emphasized that reporting to the BNN IPWL was not surrendering, but rather the first step to rise and start a better life. BNN prioritizes a scientific, empathetic, and confidential approach, in line with the principles of humanity and national rehabilitation standards.

Through the IPWL Clinic of the BNN RI Cawang, each client will receive comprehensive rehabilitation services, ranging from medical and psychological assessments, individual and group counseling, to medical and social rehabilitation handled by professional personnel.

The assistance is carried out by a multidisciplinary team consisting of doctors, psychologists, nurses, addiction counselors, and psychiatrists, to ensure that the recovery process runs optimally and sustainably.

"There is no criminalization for people who come voluntarily to recover. All services are carried out with upholding confidentiality and human dignity," he said.

The head of the BNN emphasized that rehabilitation is not a punishment, but an effort to restore physical, mental, and social health so that drug abusers can be productive again in the community.
