Chelsea Target to Break Record Defeat at Everton
Chelsea make manager Enzo Maresca worried. The 2-1 defeat against Atalanta in the Champions League made Maresca angry. He emphasized the Blues' revival to break the bad record when hosting Everton in the English Premier League match, Saturday, December 13, 2025 WIB.
Losing twice in the last four matches in various competitions clearly tarnished Chelsea's brilliant achievements. In the big match in the London Derby, Chelsea had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Arsenal.
However, they then lost 3-1 when facing Leeds United and then were held by Bournemouth without a goal. Finally, The Blues were humiliated by Atalanta and at the same time a signal that Enzo Fernandez et al. have not shown a resurgence and returned to the winning track.
In a somewhat worrying state, Chelsea had to host Everton who were on fire. Maresca immediately reminded the team to get back on track.
"I am really worried. Only being able to get two points from four games is definitely not what we expected. We have to get better," Maresca said as quoted by france24.
"We do play every two days. Right now, we are indeed entering a difficult period. But we will try to win the next match," he said again.
"The match against Leeds took place eight or nine days ago. We don't need to make a thorough overhaul just because we failed to get the points we targeted," he said.
Maresca is optimistic that Chelsea will rise to chase Arsenal and Manchester City. This is because the two-time Champions League champions have a good record every time they meet the Toffees.
From 30 home matches against the club based in Liverpool, Chelsea have never lost. They have won 17 times and drawn 13 times. This is Chelsea's longest home winning record in league history.
In the last meeting, April 2025, Chelsea narrowly won 1-0 over Everton. The only goal from the West London club was produced by Nicolas Jackson.
Only this duel will not be easy for Chelsea. The threat of losing points can still happen because Everton showed the best performance in the last two matches.
After losing 4-1 to Newcastle United at home, Everton were able to bounce back by defeating Bournemouth 1-0 and then beating Nottingham Forest 3-0.
The success of getting six points makes Everton start to peek at the top. Now, the team coached by David Moyes who is ranked seventh has 24 points.
They are only one point behind Chelsea who are in fifth place. If they win again when playing at home against their opponents, Everton will definitely move Chelsea and break into the top four.
Chelsea themselves will field the best squad in this match. Midfielder Cole Palmer who was absent against Atalanta will return to be the first choice. He shoulders the burden with Estevao and Alejandro Garnacho to support Joao Pedro.

Meanwhile, Everton is still not strengthened by Seamus Coleman, Jarrad Branthwaite and Merlin Rohl who are injured. However, striker Thierno Barry can play after suffering a minor shoulder injury.
Likewise, the duo of midfielders Idrissa Gueye and Tim Iroegbunam can perform. However, Moyes chose to play Gueye in a duet with James Garner.
