Matel Died After Being Attacked in Kalibata because the Motorist Wanted to Be Pulled

JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya has revealed the trigger for the beating that killed two suspected eagle eyes (Matel) in the Taman Makam Pahlawan (TMP) Kalibata area on Thursday, December 11, starting from the act of pulling a motorized vehicle.

Karo Penmas Div Humas Polri Brigjen Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko mengatakan tindakan penarikan motor tersebut memicu emosi para pelaku hingga terjadi pengeroyokan yang berujung pada kematian kedua Matel tersebut.

"So the vehicle was indeed used by the members, so this is what underlies the incident," said Trunoyudo at a press conference at the Polda Metro Jaya, Friday, December 12.

The perpetrators, who are also members of the Yanma Mabes Polri, have been secured and are undergoing further legal proceedings.

As previously reported, the beating of two matel in the Kalibata area resulted in riots around the location.

This incident began when the matel tried to stop a motorcyclist who was passing through the Kalibata area. Pancoran Police Chief, Kompol Mansur, said the incident occurred around 15.30 WIB on Thursday, December 11.

"The one who was beaten was a friend of the matel. One of the motorcycle users was suddenly stopped by these friends. After being stopped, he was stopped, usually," he said.

However, the situation changed quickly. According to Mansur, other drivers who were at the location got out of their cars and attacked the two matel suddenly.

One of the victims died on the spot, while the other victim had received treatment and was declared dead some time later.
