It's Been 18 Days Of Evacuation, Disaster Victims In Pidie Jaya Aceh Complain About Tent Shortage

JAKARTA - Victims of floods and landslides Gampong/Lhok Sandeng Village, Pidie Jaya Regency, Aceh Province need tents to return to their hometowns.

"We have been displaced in a neighboring village in Sara Mane for 18 days and we need a tent to return to our own village," said Keuchik/Head of Lhok Sandeng Village, Meurah Dua Mursalin District when contacted in Banda Aceh, Friday, as reported by Antara.

He explained that when large water hit his area, he and 48 families from a total of 54 families fled to neighboring gampongs.

"Currently we are still staying here. Residents want to return to their own gampong, so they need a family tent so that people can return," he said.

He said the natural disasters of floods and landslides caused 17 houses to be heavily damaged and 10 of them were swept away by the current of the Merdu river/krueng.

"The ten houses have disappeared and are gone, while the other seven cannot be occupied anymore," he said.

According to him, their assistance has received distribution and what is urgent and needed by residents is to return to their area of origin (residence).

"Our important thing at this time is to return to the village, once the tents there are residents who will return home. We want to stay in our hometown in any condition," he said.
