South Sumatra Pagaralam Alert For Landslide, Mount Dempo Climbing Activities Remain Normal
JAKARTA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of South Sumatra (Sumsel) has set a flood and landslide alert status in Pagaralam City. However, the activity of climbing Mount Merapi Dempo continues to run normally.
"The climbing activity of Mount Dempo continues to run normally as usual," said Secretary of the Mount Merapi Dempo Registration Center (BRIGADE) Desta Ndruru confirmed from Palembang, Friday, which was confiscated by Antara.
However, he appealed to climbers to provide adequate equipment such as raincoats, tents, mattresses or other climbing equipment and avoid areas prone to landslides.
His party appealed to tourists climbing Mount Dempo to maintain health, not litter, not enter the crater and not disturb CCTV in the Mount Merapi Dempo area, and maintain local wisdom.
In addition, BRIGADE also ensured that all climbers' completeness and consumption were carried during the ascent.
"Stay safe and healthy, we continue to provide directors to climbers not to go down to the crater, and do not disturb CCTV in the crater," he said.

Sementara sebelumnya, Badan Penanggulangan Bencana Daerah (BPBD) Sumatera Selatan menyebutkan lima daerah telah menetapkan status siaga bencana banjir dan longsor.
Head of South Sumatra BPBD M Iqbal Alisyahbana in Palembang, Thursday, said the five areas were Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU), Pagar Alam, Prabumulih, Musi Banyuasin (Muba), and Banyuasin.
He explained that BMKG information stated that the peak of the rainy season in South Sumatra occurred from December 2025 to March 2026.
