Prabowo Orders To Protect Nature, Tebang Pohoon Barangan Is Prohibited
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto ordered his staff, especially local governments, to be vigilant and protect nature for the better, including ensuring that no trees are cut carelessly.
The order was conveyed by President Prabowo in front of the refugees in Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh, Friday, December 12.
Aceh Tamiang is one of the districts in Aceh that was affected by flash floods and landslides on November 25, 2025.
"We now have to be vigilant, be careful. We have to protect our environment. We have to protect our nature. We must not fly trees carelessly," said President Prabowo as quoted by ANTARA.
"I ask local governments to be more vigilant, supervise more. We take care of our nature as well as possible," the President added.
The instruction was conveyed by the President to the local government because a number of experts estimate that the flash floods and landslides that occurred in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra were not only caused by natural phenomena, but also exacerbated by natural damage due to the massive forest conversion that occurred in at least the last two demodes.
The government, in this case the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Forestry, have now temporarily sealed and temporarily suspended the operations of a number of palm oil, mining companies, and temporarily suspended roundwood transportation activities in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.
President Prabowo visited Aceh for the third time since the disaster hit three provinces on the island of Sumatra at the end of last November.
In Aceh, the President reviewed the handling of the impact of disasters in Aceh Tamiang Regency, then Takengon City, Central Aceh Regency, and was also scheduled to visit the refugee posts in Bener Meriah Regency.
After completing activities in Bener Meriah Regency, President Prabowo is scheduled to take a helicopter to Kualanamu International Airport in Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra.
From Kualanamu, President Prabowo is scheduled to leave for the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base (Lanud), Jakarta.
