Aceh Floods Disabled Electricity, Prabowo Promises Government Not To Leave Residents
ACEH TAMIANG - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that the government continues to work optimally to meet the basic needs of residents affected by flash floods in Aceh, although the recovery in electricity supply still faces various obstacles.
This was conveyed by the President during a working visit from the three of them to Aceh, Friday, December 12, by visiting the evacuation post in the Aceh Tamiang Bridge area.
"Maybe it's not electricity yet. Electricity has started, we are trying. We know that in the field it is very difficult, the situation is difficult," Prabowo said in a dialogue with disaster survivors, quoted from Antara.
Prabowo apologized if there were still needs for residents who had not been met. The President ensured that the government would continue to work to accelerate recovery in all affected sectors.
"We will go down to help everyone. I apologize if something has not been fulfilled," Prabowo said.
The President said technical challenges and geographical conditions were the main obstacle to handling emergencies. Even so, all elements of the government continue to move together to restore the situation.
"The situation is difficult, so we will overcome it together. Hopefully you will recover quickly, quickly return, quickly return to normal," he said.
Prabowo emphasized the government's commitment to accompanying the community until conditions are completely stable.
"God willing, together we will improve this situation," he added.
Flash floods that hit Aceh since late November 2025 have resulted in electrical disturbances in various regions. As of Thursday, December 11, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) reported that the recovery of electricity supply had only reached 36 percent.
The worst affected areas are Aceh Tamiang and North Aceh Regencies, where a number of villages are still dark and residents rely on personal generators. Rotating blackouts are also implemented in Banda Aceh and Aceh Besar to maintain system stability.
PT PLN revealed that infrastructure damage was the main obstacle. At least five towers of the 150 kV High Voltage Air Line (SUTT) on the Langsa Pangkalan Brandan route collapsed, while seven other towers were damaged by floods and land shifts. Disconnected road access also hinders the mobilization of materials and repair teams.
