National Region 7.2 Kilometers, Indonesia's Defense Needs High Technology

BOGOR - Defense University of the Republic of Indonesia (Unhan RI) emphasized that national defense communication and response patterns can no longer rely on conventional methods.

Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs and Alumni of the Indonesian Defense University, Maj. Gen. Dr. Totok Imam Santoso emphasized that the national area of 7.2 million square kilometers demands fast, accurate technology support and reach all levels of society for defense.

This was conveyed at the "Ngobrol Together Legislator" event which was held in a hybrid manner with Commission I of the DPR RI.

"With a national area of 7.2 million square kilometers, the pattern of communication and response of defense can no longer rely on conventional methods, but must be supported by fast, accurate technology and reach all levels of society," said Major General Totok in his statement, Friday, December 8, 2025.

The event with the theme "Strong Password and Two Step Authentication" was held on Thursday (11/12). The main resource person, namely Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the DPR RI, Dr Dave Akbarshah Fikarno Laksono, ME, and Minister of Communication and Trade Meutya Hafid, BEng, MIP, attended online. Meanwhile, the UNAN academic community, including the Bachelor Program Student Cadet (S1) and Students of the Master Program (S2), participated offline.

Major General Totok also highlighted that global dynamics and the complexity of modern threats demand adaptive use of digital technology as a strategic necessity of the Indonesian nation. He emphasized that digital literacy far exceeds the technical ability to use devices.

"Digital literacy is not only limited to the ability to use devices, but also the ability to become intelligent users, innovators, educators, and parts of the national digital ecosystem," he concluded.
