Family From Bekasi Died Of Car AC Gas Toxics On The Trans Java Toll Road

Four of his family died in the Trans-Java toll minibus section of Pejagan-Pemalang. Allegedly poisoned by car air conditioner gas, this tragedy occurred after the driver refused to be treated.

A heartbreaking tragedy befell a family from Bekasi who was heading for Pacitan on the Pejagan-Pemalang Toll Road. Four people, consisting of three adults and one toddler, were found dead in a car parked on the shoulder of kilometer 284 Road, Karangjati Village, Tarub District, Tegal Regency, Thursday 11 December. The vehicle engine was found still on.

The police initially suspected that the victim died from freon gas poisoning from AC who continued to work when the vehicle was stopped.

Toll road patrol officers began to suspect when they saw the minibus parked without activity between 06.00 and 08.00 WIB. Officers from the Tegal Police were then called to inspect the vehicle. After the door was opened, the four passengers were found dead.

The evacuation was immediately carried out by Tegal Police personnel and toll officers. The morgue officer of Dr. Soeselo Tegal Hospital, Waras, confirmed the identities of the victims.

"It came around 08.00 WIB in the morning. The victims were four people, carried by a toll ambulance. The information is that there is still a family on the way from Bekasi to Pacitan," he said.

Driver Rejects Medical Care

A few hours before the tragedy, Thursday afternoon at around 01.00 WIB in the morning, the vehicle had stopped at the 250 Brebes kilometer rest area. Based on the officer's statement, the driver complained that he was not feeling well due to severe fatigue.

The medical officer who examined assessed that the driver's condition was worrying and suggested that he be immediately referred to the hospital. However, the driver refused and chose to continue the journey. This decision is thought to be the initial cause of the series of fatal events.

Kapolsek Tarub Iptu Muhlisin confirmed that the chronology and investigation were still ongoing. The crime scene (TKP) was completed and the body was taken to Dr. Soeselo Tegal Hospital for an autopsy.

"The temporary allegation is the poisoning of the freon gas from the air conditioner which remains on when the vehicle stops with the cabin closed," explained Muhlisin, Friday, December 12 morning.

Two victims have been identified named Purwanto and Wiyanti, while the other two are still in the advanced verification stage. This tragedy is a strong warning for toll road users about the importance of excellent physical conditions and the dangers of using air conditioning when vehicles stop for a long time.
