Rais Aam Not Present, PBNU Plenary Gus Yahya Canceled Held

JAKARTA - The Plenary Meeting of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board, which was originally scheduled to take place on Thursday afternoon, was held because Rais Aam PBNU Miftachul Akhyar was not present, so the plenary meeting had to be postponed according to the AD/ART.

"Today's plenary meeting was changed to the PBNU Disaster Management Coordination Meeting. Not canceled, but changed its status," said PBNU General Chair Yahya Cholil Staquf at the PBNU building in Jakarta, Thursday, December 11.

Gus Yahya, as YahyaCholil Staquf is called, explained that the meeting invitation as outlined in Letter Number 4803/PB.01/4.01.01/99/12/2025 has been distributed to all meeting members consisting of elements of Mustasyar (two administrators), Syuriyah (17 Management), A'wan (9 Management), Tanfidziyah (28 Management), Chairs of the Institution (11 Institutions) and the Autonomy Agency (8 Banoms), and 33 present online.

There are three main agendas that will previously be discussed, namely program evaluation, organizational consolidation, and disaster management.

The Plenary Meeting is a strategic forum for deliberation within NU which is held at least once every six months by involving the Mustasyar elements, the Syuriyah Complete Management, the Tanfidziyah Daily Management, as well as the leaders of the Institute and Autonomous Agency, to evaluate the implementation of work programs and establish organizational policies.

"That the invitation to the meeting has been sent to Rais Aam and has also been confirmed directly through personal communication," said Gus Yahya.

According to him, even though the invitation and implementation of the Plenary Meeting had been delivered properly and the requirements for the quorum of the Pleno Meeting had been fulfilled as the AD/ART and Association Regulations, the General Chair as the mandater agreed with all participants present to remain constitutionally obedient to changing the Pleno Meeting forum.

"That based on these considerations, the Plenary Meeting forum decided to become a Coordination Meeting for PBNU Disaster Management which is currently happening," he said.

In addition to this, Pleno PBNU also discussed the internal dynamics of the organization that is currently happening to resolve the chaos in PBNU's body taking the Islah road as mandated by mustasyar and senior kiai.

The meeting at the Al-Falah Ploso Islamic Boarding School in Kediri and a meeting at the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School, Mustasyar Deliberative Forum, Masyayikh and NU elders, called for the parties who were in conflict to do islah, "said Gus Yahya.
