Semarang Mayor Agustina Wilujeng Emphasizes The Importance Of Environmental Issues

SemarANG - Semarang Mayor Agustina Wilujeng Pramestuti emphasized that environmental issues are no longer just a complement, but rather a determinant of economic stability and city sustainability.

"It is impossible to build a strong economy without environmental resilience and a strong food system," he said, when opening the "Outlook for the 2026 Economy", in Semarang, Tuesday, December 9.

According to him, the main theme raised in the forum, namely "Semarang Tangguh through a Sustainable Food and Green Economy System" is correct.

"What do we want to talk about this event in 2026, so that each of these stakeholders can prepare to synergize and build the city of Semarang in 2026," he said.

Therefore, he said, the Semarang City Government places food security and environmental quality as the foundation for the development of the 2025-2029 Regional Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD).

"Earlier, I conveyed Rp700 billion, we prioritize it for that. Rp500 billion of which is for flood control infrastructure, to managing settlements that are still not neatly organized," he said.

"Continue to food security, there are around Rp. 200 billion, which also includes price control in the markets," he continued.

He considered that Semarang's greatest strength lies in the adaptive and collaborative character of society.

Evidently, programs such as Pak Rahman (cheap market) and Kempling Semar managed to maintain price stability and control inflation because collaboration and eliminating sectoral egos were very important in solving common problems.

"If we want to become Semarang greener (the environment, ed.), then the economy is green, it can't be done alone. That's why we collect all these 'stakeholders', complete. From academiatical entrepreneurs, there are actors, practitioners, complete," he said.

Agustina hopes that Semarang can grow greener, more inclusive, and more resilient to create a greater and more resilient Semarang in 2026.

Moreover, "Strengthening the Sustainable City Food System and Improvement of Environmental Quality" are the Priority themes for Regional Development in Semarang City in 2026.

"Meeting all of these opinions will determine the technical details of the implementation of the budget and policies in 2026," he concluded.
