DKI Provincial Government Sends 15 Tons Of Cheap Food To The Thousand Islands To Reduce Prices Ahead Of Christmas-New Year
JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government sent 15 tons of cheap food to the Thousand Islands to anticipate a surge in demand ahead of the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year National Religious Holidays (HBKN). Distribution is made from Marina Harbor, Ancol, North Jakarta.
DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said the move was aimed at ensuring that stocks remained available at affordable prices for residents of the Thousand Islands, areas that often experienced price increases due to distribution and weather factors.
The DKI Provincial Government has prepared three transport ships to carry seven types of food commodities.
There are three ships sent, one from Bank Indonesia and two from the Transportation Service. Hopefully, prices in the Thousand Islands can be really maintained. If there is still potential for price increases, we will send additional," Pramono said in Jakarta, Thursday, December 11.
He explained that the commodities sent will be sold at controlled prices. The distribution mechanism is regulated by the district government so that distribution is orderly and on target. The effort was made to anticipate a price spike that often occurs ahead of the long year-end holiday.
In addition to stabilizing supply, the low-cost food program is also expected to help islanders face Christmas and New Year's periods without worrying about a spike in basic necessities.
"The goods or commodities we send can control the price there. Of course this is not just shared, but at the price that has been set. For the arrangement in the field, the Regent is responsible," said Pramono.
He added that price control is part of the strategy to keep Jakarta's inflation stable, both in mainland and archipelago. The main commodities sent include rice, chicken, chili, cooking oil, shallots, garlic, and others. We do this to maintain price stability," he said.
