Transfer Of Land Functions To Cause Greater Bandung Floods, Governor Dedi Issues Prohibition Of Housing Permits
JAKARTA - West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi assessed that the floods that often hit Greater Bandung were caused by massive land transfers that had occurred in recent years.
"We see in Bandung, there are almost no more rice fields, swamps and lakes. Everything has turned into settlements," said Dedi at the KPK's Red and White House, Jakarta, Thursday, December 11.
He explained that some settlement construction was even carried out by taking land from other areas. This condition, he said, caused an imbalance in the surface of the land.
Another place experienced a surface subsidence, while the elite area experienced an increase in the surface. When the rain arrives, the victims are areas that experience surface subsidence," he explained.
Previously, floods and landslides hit Bandung Regency, West Java, on December 4, 2025. Following the incident, the Bandung Regency Government declared an emergency status for floods and landslides starting December 6, 2025.
Following up on this situation, Dedi issued Circular Number 177/PUR.06.02.03/DISPERKIM addressed to regents and mayors in five regions, namely Bandung Regency, West Bandung Regency, Sumedang Regency, Bandung City, and Cimahi City.
