BYD Ensures Factory Construction In Subang Is On Schedule, Production Starting In 2026

JAKARTA - PT BYD Motor Indonesia has a strong commitment to working on the national market, by not only launching new products in all segments, but also building independent factories.

Unlike many other Chinese brands that still ride at Handal factories, BYD builds independent factories in the Subang area, West Java. So how is the progress?

"Currently, construction is still in the right track, input and opinions from the Indonesian government's authorities are very supportive of the development of our factory," said President Director of PT BYD Motor Indonesia, Eagle Zhao, during a media meeting in Sentul, West Java, Thursday, December 11.

BYD itself targets the construction of the new plant to be completed by the end of 2025, and Eagle Zhao, confident that BYD could complete construction by the end of this year as committed.

"We are also targeting to start production in the first quarter of 2026," he added.

The factory will be located in Subang, West Java with an area of more than 108 hectares and will assemble the locals of many models that are already present in Indonesia, and the capacity reaches 150,000 units per year.

As is known, currently BYD already has various electric car models. Recently, Atto 1 is quite interesting. In fact, the car had dominated with sales reaching 9,000 units.
