Etomade Officially Becomes Narcotics, Use Through Vape Can Now Be Charged With Law
JAKARTA - The Directorate of Drug Crimes (Dittipidnarkoba) of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police stated that the ethoRIDate, including use through the vape media, has now officially entered the narcotics group.
This assurance is stated in the Regulation of the Minister of Health (Permenkes) Number 15 of 2025 concerning Amendments to the Classification of Narcotics.
Dirtipidnarkoba Bareskrim Polri Brigjen Eko Hadi Santoso mengatakan, bahwa dengan adanya pengulongan baru tersebut, pengguna etomodite kini bisa dijerat menggunakan Undang-Undang Narkotika.
"So, users can be subject to the Narcotics Law, rehabilitation," he said in Jakarta, Thursday, December 11.
He explained that the decision to include ethodidates in the narcotics group was progress in handling its abuse.
Previously, enforcement of these substances could only be carried out through the Health Law so that users could not be charged.
"In the past, it was not yet a narcotic group. So, prosecution still uses the Health Law and can only be imposed on dealers or producers. Users cannot be subject to the Health Law," said Eko.
In Permenkes Number 15 of 2025, ethodidate is categorized as class II narcotics, namely narcotics with medicinal efficacy which is used as a last resort and can be used in therapy or scientific development, but has a high potential for dependence.
The Permenkes explained that the classification changes were made due to the presence of new psychoactive substances that could potentially be misused or cause dependence, but were not covered by the previous narcotics list.
The National Police also continues to intensify the distribution of etomade vapes. Throughout 2025, the National Police has uncovered 39 cases with 61 suspects, and confiscated 28,331.54 grams of evidence.
