ASDP Alerts BBJ And Wika Ports To Anticipate Surge During Christmas-New Year Holidays

SOUTH LAMPUNG - PT Transport Sungai, Lake, and Ferry Indonesia Ferry (PT ASDP) Bakauheni Branch, has alerted Bandar Bakau Jaya Port (BBJ) and PT Wijaya Karya (Wika) Beton, as another alternative route to anticipate a surge in passengers during the long Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 (Nataru) holidays.

This year, Bandar Bakau Jaya Port and concrete Wijaya Karya Port continue to carry out normal activities as usual. It's just that later it is possible that if there is a density from Ciwan and these two ports are ready to accept passengers," said General Manager of ASDP Bakauheni Partogi Samba as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 10.

According to him, the alternative route is prepared to unravel the density in the event of a spike in travelers, especially in the eastern and mid-traffic routes on the 2026 Nataru backflow.

PT ASDP Bakauheni and Gapasdap have prepared ships that are ready to operate for the Christmas and New Year holidays. Based on Nataru's previous operating experience, the strategy remains the same," he said.

He explained, during normal conditions ASDP will operate as many as 28 ships, while at the peak of the homecoming flow and the return of the long Nataru holiday, his party together with KSOP will increase the number of ships to 33 fleets that will serve travelers on the Bakauheni-Merak route.

Not only that, he said to improve services for passenger satisfaction using Sundanese strait crossing services, ASDP Bakauheni Port Branch supported by two health posts, 92 toilet units, 167 CCTV points, as well as 27 counters and crossing machines.

To ensure this, his party has held a coordination meeting with relevant stakeholders to anticipate a surge in community mobility during the long year-end holiday momentum.

ASDP also appealed to the public to increase awareness of weather conditions, comply with directions from officers at ports and on ships, and not to force travel if conditions are not possible.

"Security is a shared responsibility. ASDP will continue to ensure that every crossing takes place safely, orderly, and prioritizes the protection of service users," he said.
