The TNI Uses Heavy Equipment To Open A Mud-bunched Line In Aceh
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Army through the Iskandar Muda Military Command and Babinsa Koramil 07/Jangka, Kodim 0111/Bireuen deployed heavy equipment to open land routes buried by mud due to flooding in Jangka District, Bireuen Regency, Aceh.
Head of the Information Service of the Indonesian Army (Kadispenad) Brigadier General Donny Pramono explained that the road was cleaned to facilitate access to residents while accelerating logistics distribution to disaster-affected areas.
At that time, he said, the road was covered in thick mud.
"The main road is buried in mud as high as 30'40 centimeters, thus hampering the mobility of residents and increasing the risk of health problems due to dirty environment," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 10.
To move the mud, the Indonesian Army deployed a heavy equipment vehicle called a loader to lift and move the mixture of mud, soil, sand, gravel, and debris of buildings carried by the flood currents.
In addition to cleaning the road, he said, TNI personnel and the local community also handled several clogged drainage locations.
"With the flow of water that returns smoothly, the risk of further flooding can be suppressed, while at the same time restoring residents' activities gradually," said Donny.
He explained that the opening of the route buried in the ground was running smoothly and now road access can be passed.
With this access, he said, the mobility of the local community returned to normal.
