Beat Malaysia 3-0, Indonesian Men's Badminton Wins The 2025 SEA Games Gold Medal

JAKARTA The Indonesian men's team badminton team won the 2025 SEA Games gold medal after defeating Malaysia in the final with a landslide score of 3-0 on Wednesday, December 10. December 2025.

In these clashes, Alwi Farhan contributed the first point for Indonesia. The 2023 junior world champion only went through a two-game match against Leong Jun Hao which ended with a score of 21-12 and 21-19.

This victory further sharpened Alwi's winning record against Leong to 2-0. He had previously won one in the first round of the Korea Open 2025 last September.

"This is the fruit of my hard work, my coaches, psychologists, and my parents accompanying me every day. Hopefully my victory can lead to the victory of other friends," said Alwi after the match.

Alwi previously failed to give points when Indonesia beat Singapore in the semifinals. He went down against the 2021 world title holder, Loh Kean Yew, and had to admit his opponent's advantage in three games.

Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Mohammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani who came down after that also appeared strong in two straight games 21-12 and 21-12 against the pair who are currently in second place in the world, Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik.

The gold medal for the Indonesian men's badminton team was then determined by Mohammad Zaki Ubaidillah who participated in the third party. The 2025 junior Asian champion stopped Justin Hoh in two straight games 21-12 and 21-14.

This result made Indonesia automatically defend the SEA Games gold medal. In the previous edition in Cambodia in 2023, Malaysia also became a victim of Indonesia in the men's team peak in badminton.

Men's team badminton is the fourth gold medal contributor to Indonesia at the Thailand 2025 SEA Games. Three gold previously obtained by taekwondo, canoe, and petanque sports.

The Indonesian women's team badminton squad is actually included in the final round in this year's edition. However, they had to settle for the silver medal as a result of losing 1-3 against the host Thailand.
