The Car Allegedly The Latest Toyota RAV4 Registered In Indonesia, Ready To Launch?

JAKARTA - The latest generation of Toyota RAV4 cars seems to be preparing to enliven the Indonesian market. The indications emerged after the latest Toyota RAV4-like car design was listed in the official document of the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DJKI).

The exterior SUV design is registered in the Official Industrial Design News No. 80/DI/2025 with application number DI A00202407405. In the same document, the design applicant is listed as Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki Kaisha, which is centered in Japan.

Globally, the new generation of Toyota RAV4 will launch for the first time in May 2025. Although the silhouette still retains the characteristics of the previous model, a sharp update can be seen in the face area, especially the honeycomb design grip that reminds New Corolla Cross in Indonesia.

Meanwhile, the main lights now use a more assertive hazardhead style, highlighting the modern and elegant impression. In the PHEV variant, Toyota has buried the latest generation of batteries with a capacity of 22.7 kWh which is capable of providing pure electric coverage of up to 100 kilometers in full charging conditions.

The latest RAV4 PHEV is also offered in two drive system options, Front Wheel Drive (FWD) and All Wheel Drive (AWD). In addition, the non-PHEV full hybrid model is also part of the product line for the international market.

In Indonesia, the fifth generation of RAV4 circulating today is likely to be replaced by the latest version. Moreover, the price of the previous RAV4 PHEV had reached Rp1.15 billion, almost the equivalent of imported Toyota bZ4X which was sold for Rp1.2 billion.

If Toyota really brought the latest RAV4 to Indonesia, the price strategy would be key. PHEV is now in demand again because it is priced more affordable by a number of Chinese brands, many of which are below Rp1 billion.

With this situation, it is not impossible for Toyota to choose to present a non-PHEV hybrid version of RAV4 which is expected to be more pocket friendly. Currently, Toyota Indonesia has marketed several hybrid models such as Kijang Innova Zenix, Yaris Cross, Corolla Cross, to Veloz Hybrid.
