Gubernatorial Regulation Prohibition On Selling Dog Meat In Jakarta Applies, 2 Restaurants And 1 RPH Raided By Satpol PP
JAKARTA - The ranks of the DKI Jakarta Satpol PP have started raids on restaurants and slaughterhouses (RPH) in enforcing regulations that prohibit the sale and slaughter of dog meat and other rabies-contagious animals officially enforced by the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung.
In this surveillance operation, Satpol PP took action against restaurants and RPHs that violated Governor Regulation Number 36 of 2025 concerning Amendments to Governor Regulation Number 199 of 2016 concerning Control of Rabies Infectious Animals.
"On Tuesday, December 9, a rabies control and surveillance operation was carried out in DKI Jakarta Province," said Head of the Operations Section of the DKI Jakarta Satpol PP Ivand Sigiro in his statement, Wednesday, December 10.
The three places of business are RM Sangkaan, RM Lapo Codian, and RPH Silitonga. They also have not been able to show their business licenses, so the managers of the three places were summoned to the DKI Jakarta Satpol PP office.
"Two restaurants and one slaughterhouse were given a BAP summons to the Satpol PP office to carry files and show their business license," said Ivand.
Satpol PP also gave a warning to restaurant owners and RPH to comply with regulations prohibiting the sale and slaughter of rabies-prone animal meat such as dogs.
"We urge RM owners starting this month not to sell B1 (dogs) meat anymore related to rabies-contagious animals (HPRs) in the DKI Jakarta area," he said.
It is known, in Governor Regulation Number 36 of 2025, Pramono prohibits the sale of meat and slaughterhouses or the killing of rabies-infectious animals (HPR) in Jakarta, namely dogs, cats, monkeys, bats, civets, and so on.
There are sanctions that will be imposed on people or business entities that violate this governor's regulation. Administrative sanctions are imposed in stages based on the number of violations committed, ranging from the first violation to repeated violations.
"If a violation of the prohibition of trading HPR and/or HPR products for food purposes, a written warning is given, HPR confiscation for observation if HPR is found showing rabies symptoms," Pramono wrote in Governor Regulation 36/2025.
Then, if you repeat the violation of the ban on the sale and slaughter of HPR meat after receiving the first sanction, the DKI Provincial Government will confiscate all these animals.
Then, if it still repeats the violation, the sale and meat slaughter will be closed. Furthermore, the last sanction imposed if you repeat the violation after the previous three stages of sanctions, the DKI Provincial Government will revoke the business license in question.
"The implementation of the imposition of administrative sanctions on every person and/or business entity that violates the prohibition is carried out by the service, Civil Service Police Unit, and/or related regional apparatus in accordance with the provisions of the legislation," explained Pramono.
