In Islamabad, Prabowo Receives Pakistan's Highest Award Nishan-e-Pakistan
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto received the award of the highest star award of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan "Nishan-e-Pakistan" from Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari during an award ceremony at the Pakistan Presidential Palace Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad, Tuesday 9 December.
The honorary star "Nishan-e-Pakistan" is the highest award given by the Pakistani government to foreign leaders or important figures who are considered to have contributed extraordinaryly and contributed to Pakistan both at the national and international levels.
The award was given to President Prabowo who was considered to have contributed greatly and had an extraordinary contribution in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, according to an official broadcast by the Presidential Secretariat quoted by Antara in Jakarta, Wednesday, December 10 in the morning.
In the procession of embedding the award of the highest star, President Zardari was accompanied by Pakistani Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif, and witnessed by officials of two countries, members of Pakistan parliament, and ambassadors from friendly countries in Islamabad, Pakistan.
The award to President Prabowo reflects the Pakistan Government's recognition of Indonesia's strategic role in the Indo-Pacific region as well as President Prabowo's commitment to strengthening defense, economic and solidarity cooperation in the Islamic world, according to the official broadcast of the Presidential Secretariat.
Since being given for the first time on March 19, 1957, "Nishan-e-Pakistan" has also been given to a number of state leaders including King Jordania Abdullah II bin Hussein, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Emir Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Sultan Brunei Darussalam Hassanal Bolkiah.
The award is also a symbol of respecting the historical relations between Indonesia and Pakistan that have existed since President Soekarno's time, and strengthening the strategic partnerships of the two countries in the midst of global geopolitical dynamics.
The official broadcast also mentioned that the award also reflects hopes that the cooperation between the two countries will increase in the fields of defense, economy, technology, food, and solidarity in the Muslim world.

On the same day, President Prabowo visited Pakistan's Presidential Palace Aiwan-e-Sadr after completing his official visit to the official residence of the Pakistani prime minister (PM House) in Islamabad. The visit was a series of President Prabowo's inaugural visit in Pakistan for two days, namely on December 8-9, 2025.
In Aiwan-e-Sadr, President Prabowo and President Zardari held a four-eye meeting to discuss increasing cooperation between the two countries, as well as developments in the situation in the region. After the meeting, two leaders continued to lead bilateral meetings between the Government of Indonesia and the Government of Pakistan.
