Google Prepares AI Glasses 2026: Smart Devices Ready To Shake Wearable Markets
JAKARTA - Google is preparing AI-powered smart glasses for release in 2026, marking the tech giant's major move in the competition for artificial intelligence-based wearables that are getting hotter.
In its latest announcement, Google confirmed that it is developing two smart glasses models that offer a different approach to digital assistance without a screen.
The first model comes with full AI integration, designed to provide daily help without the need to view the screen. The device is equipped with speakers, microphones, and cameras that allow users to take photos and then ask Gemini 'AI assistant Google' to get contextual information in real time.

The second model offers the same feature, but with the addition of a mini screen inside the lens. The in-lens display technology is capable of displaying directional navigation, direct translational text, to other important information.
The two connect to smartphones, take advantage of the device as a processing center, and run on top of Android XR, Google's new platform for wearable devices.
Google cooperates with Samsung in technical development, as well as in collaboration with Warby Parker and Gentleman Monster to ensure the design remains fashionable, lightweight, and comfortable to use throughout the day. This collaboration is a signal that Google is trying to combine high-end technology with lifestyle aesthetics.
This launch will put Google in direct contact with Meta, which already markets AI-powered Ray-Ban and Oakley, as well as Ray-Ban models with a look in the lens.
At the same time, strong rumors say Apple is also preparing its first AI smart glasses which could be released in 2026, heating up competition in the future smart device segment.
The existence of two models of Google glasses shows that wearable AI competition is entering a new chapter, when previously considered futuristic devices are starting to shift to everyday use
