Prosecutor's Office Names Former Deputy Governor Of North Maluku Al Yasin Ali As A Corruption Suspect

TERNATE - The North Maluku High Prosecutor's Office has appointed twelve Deputy Governors of North Maluku, M. Al Yasin Ali (MAY), as suspects in the alleged corruption case in budget management at the Secretariat of Deputy Regional Heads (WKDH) for the 2022 fiscal year.

"In addition, the appointment of the former Deputy Governor of North Maluku as a suspect coincided with the momentum of World Anti-Corruption Day, December 9, 2025, as the commitment of the North Maluku Prosecutor's Office in strengthening the corruption eradication agenda in North Maluku," said Head of the Legal Information Section, Richard Sinaga, in Ternate, Tuesday, December 9.

He emphasized that the determination of the suspect against MAY was a further step after the North Maluku Prosecutor's Office pocketed sufficient evidence from a series of previous investigations and trials.

MAY was named a suspect in a budget management case at the Secretariat of the Deputy Regional Head of North Maluku Province for the 2022 fiscal year.

Richard said this determination was in accordance with the facts revealed in the trial on behalf of the defendant MS, as the assistant treasurer at the WKDH Secretariat in 2022.

According to Richard, the results of the trial of the defendant MS revealed a number of new facts regarding the flow and use of the budget that did not comply with the provisions.

The findings were then developed by investigators and led to the alleged involvement of MAY in the management of the WKDH budget in the same year.

In addition to naming MAY as a suspect, the North Maluku Attorney General's Office also announced two new suspects in different cases, namely the alleged corruption case in the construction of the Taliabu Island Regional Palace at the local PUPR Service.

The two suspects, namely the initials S, as the budget user and MR, as the executor of the activity

Both are suspected of being involved in irregularities in the budget for the construction of the Regional Palace for the 2023 budget year.

In this case, the North Maluku Attorney General's Office investigators found indications of state losses reaching around Rp. 8 billion.

"The North Maluku Prosecutor's Office has also named suspect S as the user of the budget and MR as the executor of the activities in investigating alleged corruption in the construction of the Regional Palace of Taliabu Island Regency at the PUPR Service for the 2023 fiscal year, with an estimated state loss of approximately Rp. 8 billion," he said.
