Polda Deploys Tracking Dogs To Search For Flood Victims In Aceh Tamiang

BANDA ACEH - Aceh Police deployed a team of sniffer dogs from the K-9 SAR Unit to assist in the search and handling of flood victims in Aceh Tamiang.

Head of Public Relations of the Aceh Police, Kombes Joko Krisdiyanto, said the K-9 SAR unit sniffer dog was deployed from the Directorate of Animal Police (Ditpolsatwa) of the Sabhara Baharkam Police Corps.

"The deployment of the K-9 Team is a form of Polri's commitment to support the acceleration of disaster management and ensure that no casualties are missed," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, December 9.

Joko Krisdiyanto said the K-9 Team was deployed with a strength of 14 personnel and three Cadaver-type sniffer dogs, equipped with one operational vehicle.

"Arriving at the Police Natural Disaster Assistance Post at the Tamiang Aceh Police, the team received directions from Brimob elements regarding the priority sweeping point," he said.

The K-9 team coordinated with the Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team or the Indonesia Automatic Fingerprint Identification System (Inafis) of the National Police Headquarters and the Aceh Tamiang BPBD to map areas that still have the potential to be affected by flooding.

"The team then carried out patrols and checked several locations, including the City of Lintang and Hamlet I Alisan, Kuala Simpang, where information was obtained that local residents were safe and there were no reports of loss," said Joko Krisdiyanto.

Search efforts were also focused on sweeping the Cadaver around the Aceh Tamiang Sport Center. After a thorough examination, no bodies or victims were found in the area.

As part of a humanitarian mission, the K-9 Team helped to establish a refugee camp in Hamlet I Alisan with Brimob personnel from the Aceh Police. The activity was continued with an evaluation analysis with the Aceh Tamiang Disaster Management Joint Task Force.

"The National Police will continue to provide maximum support in flood management in Aceh Tamiang Regency. Deployment of K-9 animals is an effort to ensure that the search process is carried out professionally, quickly, and on target," said Joko Krisdiyanto.
