Japan Rocked By More Than 10 Aftershocks After 7.5 Magnitude Earthquake
JAKARTA - Japan was rocked by more than 10 aftershocks within 14 hours of a strong 7.5 magnitude earthquake hitting the country's northern region.
Reported by ANTARA from Sputnik/RIA Novosti citing data from the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), as many as 14 vibrations were recorded, with a magnitude ranging from 3.6 to 6.4 and a depth between 10 to 50 kilometers.
The 7.5 magnitude earthquake hit northern Aomori Prefecture, triggering a tsunami warning along the northeast coast of Honshu Island and the east coast of Hokkaido Island.
The maximum tsunami height was recorded at 70 centimeters. However, the warning was lifted about six hours after the earthquake.

With the epicenter at a depth of 54 kilometers off the east coast of Aomori, the quake was recorded at more than six on a seven-point Japanese intensity scale. As many as 30 people were reportedly injured.
Over the past week, the Japanese government and meteorology have warned of an increasing risk of large earthquakes that could hit northern Hokkaido and Sanriku areas in northeastern Japan.
