November Slightly Rises, Car Sales Are Getting Closer To New Targets From Gaikindo
JAKARTA - The national car market is starting to show positive movement towards the end of the year. The Indonesian Automotive Industries Association (Gaikindo) released the latest data for the November 2025 period which shows new car sales are growing again, although in a thin percentage.
Based on Gaikindo's report seen on Tuesday, December 9, wholesales data or distribution of cars from factories to dealers reached 74,252 units in November, or an increase of 0.3 percent compared to October. In terms of retail, sales actually increased stronger, jumped 6.1 percent to 79,310 units.
When compared to November 2024, wholesale sales this year fell 0.8 percent, while retail recorded an increase of 3.7 percent. Even so, the market still shows a stable trend amid economic pressure.

Cumulatively, the total wholesales January 2025 was at 710,084 units, down 9.6 percent from the same period last year. For retail sales, the accumulation reached 739,977 units, down 8.4 percent compared to the first 11 months of 2024.
If you look at the data, the national car sales target installed by Gaikindo can still be achieved. As is known, Gaikindo has revised its target to 780 thousand units by the end of this year, from the previous 850 thousand to 900 thousand units.
"It has been decided (revision of the new car sales target), projected 2025 to 780 thousand units," said Chairman I Gaikindo Jongkie D Sugiarto.
To pursue this figure, wholesales only need around 70 thousand additional units, while in terms of retail, approximately 41 thousand units. With this new target, it is actually far below the 2024 achievement, when wholesales penetrated 865,723 units and retail reached 889,680 units.
