"Thank you profusely to the entire community who have worked hand in hand to raise aid for residents affected by floods and landslides in Sumatra," said Vice President Gibran in a written statement reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, December 9.
Vice President Gibran assessed that the Residents Help the Citizens' movement which was promoted by Ferry Irwandi, and other volunteers from among celebrities and influencers, such as Praz Teguh to Willie Salim, was an act of encouraging the spirit of mutual cooperation.
The movement, said Gibran, is also a form of social concern that has been the strength of the Indonesian nation for a long time.
"The movement of residents to help residents, such as those carried out by many social institutions, communities, and individuals such as Ferry Irwandi, Praz Teguh, Willie Salim, and others is a real action of the spirit of mutual cooperation and social concern that has long been the strength of our nation," said Gibran.
The vice president hopes that the assistance can provide great benefits and become moral support for victims of flash floods and landslides in Aceh and Sumatra.
Gibran's statement relates to criticism from one member of the DPR who assessed that Ferry Irawan's actions and other volunteers received more attention from netizens.
Ferry, who managed to collect assistance for the victims of up to a total of Rp10 billion, actually received comments from members of the DPR because it seemed as if he contributed the most in Aceh.
