Attorney General Orders Arrest Of Newly Free Honduran President Accompanied Trump

JAKARTA - Attorney General Honduras issued an arrest warrant for former Juan President Orlando Hern Marijudez, who was just released from US federal prison last week after being forgiven by President Donald Trump.

Attorney General Johel Antonio Zelaya Alvarez said he had asked the government agency and global police agency Interpol to arrest Hern Marijudez, who was accused of money laundering and fraud.

"We have been torn apart by corrupt elements and criminal networks that have tarnished the life of our country," Zelaya said.

His upload included a photo of an arrest warrant from the Supreme Court dated November 28, the same day Trump announced his intention to pardon Hern Lamez.

President Honduras from 2014 to 2022, Hern Marijudez was found guilty and sentenced to 45 years in federal prison and an $8 million fine by a US judge for drug trafficking offenses.

Domestic indictment Hern Marijudez is linked to a massive anti-corruption investigation in Honduras known as Pandora II, a scheme involving politicians, government officials, and top businessmen in the country. Prosecutors allege Hern Marijudez illegally embezzled about $2.4 million in bribes from public contracts for his 2013 campaign.

In a statement to CNN, Hernandez's lawyer, Renato Stabile, said the warrant for Hern Marijudez's arrest was a political game by the ruling Libre party in Honduras rival to the conservative National Party he had ever led.

"This is clearly a purely political step on behalf of the defeated Libre radical left party, because they were forced to step down from power by the Honduras people. This is an embarrassing and reckless political play, and this accusation is completely baseless," said Stabile.
