Joint Officials Close 9 Illegal Mining Holes On Mount Pongkor Bogor

The joint team closed nine gold mining holes without permission (PETI) found in the Mount Pongkor area, Nanggung District, Bogor Regency, West Java, after routine patrols for three days.

Kapolsek Nanggung AKPUcup Supriatna said the patrol involved elements of the TNI, sub-district government, villages, Linmas, forestry, and security officers of PT Antam Pongkor.

"There are about seven tarpaulin huts and about nine excavation holes were found," said Ucup as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, December 9.

According to him, the mine holes that were found were immediately followed up with the closure and control of the tarpaulin hut used by illegal miners.

"We closed the hole and we secured the hut. We didn't burn it," he said.

Ucup explained that this joint patrol is a sustainable effort to prevent PETI activities that are still found in the forest area of PT Antam.

He also appealed to the public not to carry out illegal mining because it could cause forest damage and violate the law.

"We urge residents not to carry out mining without a permit because it has resulted in damage to our forests," he said.

The joint patrol lasted for three days last week at a number of points included in the security area of PT Antam Pongkor.
