Titiek Suharto Believes Sumatra Disaster Assistance Will Not Be Corruptioned: We Are All Concerned
YOGYAKARTA - Chairman of Commission IV DPR Siti Hediati Hariyadi or Titiek Soeharto believes that no party has the heart to corrupt aid for victims of flash floods and landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra Provinces.
"I'm sure we are all concerned. (However, ed.) no one has corrupted these aids," said Titiek after attending one of the 2025 World Anti-Corruption Day (Hakordia) series at the Kepatihan complex, Yogyakarta, Monday, December 8.
Even so, Titiek explained that all parties must ensure that assistance for the victims can be distributed. "Hopefully all the employees, or officers in the field will also carry out it well," he said.
Meanwhile, President Prabowo Subianto Prabowo firmly reminded the ranks of ministries, institutions, local governments, and law enforcement officials to maintain integrity in the use of budgets and distribution of aid. No party should abuse it.
This statement was conveyed by Prabowo when giving directions in limited disaster management meetings in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra on Sunday, December 7.
"There should be no fraud, there should be no corruption in all government entities ... Don't look for profit in the midst of the suffering of the people," Prabowo said at the time.
Responding to this, KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto admitted that he was ready to send his subordinates to oversee the budget for assistance for disaster victims in Aceh and Sumatra. This step is to prevent irregularities related to assistance to donations.
"Later, maybe we will assign the deputy related to it, whether there is a Korsup or maybe a precaution to work together to see so that it doesn't happen again, there are deviations related to assistance, yes, donations from the community," Setyo told reporters in Yogyakarta, Monday, December 8.
Setyo agrees that misappropriation of donations is indeed a problem. Because, the gift is usually done through many doors.
"Something is done directly, something is done through a predetermined institution," he said.
Even so, Setyo said that his subordinates would only be assigned after conditions in the affected areas were more conducive. "This is now a bit of an emergency process, meaning that we are responding first," he said.
"The first thing the government does is how to return the victims, the priority is there," continued Setyo, who has also served as Director of KPK Investigation.
