KSP Praises Korlantas' Steps To Expand ETLE Cameras To Order Traffic
JAKARTA - Efforts to modernize traffic law enforcement through Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) have again received support.
This time, the focus of the discussion is no longer on technology alone, but on changes in the paradigm of Polantas services which are more transparent, orderly, and humanist.
The Presidential Staff Office (KSP) assesses that the steps taken by the National Police Headquarters, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, to build law enforcement governance based on the ETLE camera are an important foundation towards an accountable digital government. ETLE is considered capable of closing the space for irregularities while increasing public trust.
"We see that ETLE is not just a ticket, but a symbol of new discipline. This system provides legal certainty, reduces physical interaction, and ensures that state revenues are clearly recorded through PNBP," said Bhinneka Putra Linanta, the Main Expert of KSP from Deputy I during a visit to RTMC Polda Metro Jaya, Monday, December 8.
KSP encourages the acceleration of the addition of ETLE cameras in the DKI Jakarta area, along with the increasing need for technology-based surveillance at accident-prone points. This central government support is expected to strengthen the orderly culture of traffic.
The Head of Traffic Police, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, emphasized that the law enforcement scheme must prioritize digital governance. He targets 95 percent of the prosecution to be carried out by ETLE, and only 5 percent through manual ticketing as a form of situational action.
"ETLE is our way of greeting the community humanely. There is no potentially transactional interaction, everything is recorded and can be accounted for," said Inspector General Agus Suryo when reviewing the implementation of ETLE at RTMC Polda Metro Jaya.
Currently, Polda Metro Jaya has operated 127 static ETLE cameras and 8 mobile ETLE cameras. In the future, Inspector General Agus proposes an increase of up to 1,000 ETLE cameras by 2026.
"The target of adding this camera is not just a number. This is a manifestation of our seriousness in changing the face of Polantas to be more trusted, professional, and service-oriented according to the expectations of the National Police Chief General Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo," said Agus Suryo.
Inspector General Agus emphasized that all ETLE developments departed from a single mission, saving lives on the highway. Many accidents occur due to minor and repeated violations.
"With ETLE, we hope that the community will be orderly from themselves. All of this is for safety. There is no other purpose," he said.
In the future, the synergy of Korlantas Polri, Ministries/Agencies, and Regional Governments will be the key to expanding the coverage of ETLE cameras in Jakarta and other major cities.
This transformation of law enforcement is a real step for Polri reform in the field, more transparent, more modern, and closer to society.
ETLE is not just a record tool for violations but an orderly cultural investment in Indonesian traffic.
