Puan Closes Session Period, DPR Recess From Tomorrow To January 10
JAKARTA - The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, officially closed the DPR session at the 10th Plenary Meeting of the Second Session Period of 2025-2026. That way, the DPR will enter a recess period starting tomorrow until January 10, 2026.
Puan initially explained the DPR's achievements in carrying out its legislative functions. He said the DPR and the Government had completed the discussion of three draft laws and stipulated three draft laws and proposals for the DPR initiative.
"One of the draft laws that get public attention is the draft law on the Criminal Procedure Code. The presence of this bill is expected to answer the challenges of the times and provide protection for citizens through restorative justice," said Puan in her speech at the DPR building, Monday, December 8.
In implementing the budget function, Puan said, the board's equipment together with partners had discussed the development of the realization of the 2025 budget, to ensure that every people's money was used for the benefit of the people.
Puan emphasized that the people must be able to benefit from the implementation of the 2025 State Budget, people's lives must be easier and more prosperous.
"We understand together that there are still many challenges in carrying out national development, so priority and effectiveness of the state budget allocation in meeting the basic needs of the people and advancing the welfare of the people," said the PDIP legislator.
Puan continued, BPK has submitted a summary of the 2025 Semester I Examination Results document which contains findings and problems on state financial management in all ministries and central government institutions.
"The DPR RI will ensure that the Government follows up on every recommendation from the results of the BPK RI examination, so that people's money is managed in an orderly, obedient manner to statutory and accountable regulations," he continued.
Puan explained that the supervisory function of the DPR is intended to make the Government more effective in meeting the needs of the people and improving their welfare.
Some of the attention of the DPR in carrying out its supervisory functions include the readiness of transportation facilities and infrastructure as well as the stability of food supply and prices ahead of Christmas and New Year, cases of bullying in the educational environment, evaluation of maternal and child health services in government hospitals, as well as supervision of the performance of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG), especially related to the quality of food and fulfillment of the rights of MBG officers.
"Then, supervision of illegal foreign workers, eradication and control of criminal acts of trafficking in persons, protection and rehabilitation of children victims of kidnapping, efforts to handle tuberculosis (TBC), supervision of subsidized fertilizer governance, performance of the Implementation of the Danantara Investment Management Agency, active role of the Government as a mediator of peace in Sudan, as well as Disaster Management in Aceh Province, North Sumatra, West Sumatra and other regions of Indonesia," said Puan.
During this session, continued Puan, the DPR has also given approval, consideration, consultation in the appointment and/or election of public officials and non-public officials.
Among other things, candidates for Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Friends for the Republic of Indonesia, the Public Accountant Office (KAP) of the Audit of the 2025 BPK RI Financial Statements, Candidates for Judicial Commission, Candidate Members of the National Energy Council from Interestholders, and Candidates for Management of the Construction Services Development Institute.
In implementing the function of parliamentary diplomacy, Puan explained, the DPR has attended various activities in a series of strengthening global diplomacy.
In addition to multilateral activities, the DPR also held bilateral meetings through the visit of ambassadors and delegations of friendly countries, namely the Croatian Ambassador to Indonesia, the Arizona parliament meeting, the visit of the People's Republic of China MPR chairman, and the Polish parliament meeting.
"We, all members of the DPR RI, must be vigilant and realize together that the needs and aspirations of the people so that their lives are easier and more prosperous, we are still fighting for together. Therefore, let's build communication with the people in our respective electoral districts, so that the people can know the progress that has been achieved and the challenges that we are still facing together in developing Indonesia," he explained.
On behalf of the leadership of the DPR, Puan also expressed her appreciation for the hard work of all members of the DPR in carrying out constitutional tasks to realize the sovereignty of the people.
"It's time for us to enter a recess to greet, listen, absorb the aspirations of the people, and convey to the people the constitutional tasks that have been carried out by the DPR RI, as well as unite the people in the spirit of mutual cooperation to build Indonesia," said Puan.
Puan then announced to all Indonesian people, from December 10, 2025 to January 12, 2026, the DPR is entering the Recess Period of Trial II for Session Year 2025-2026.
"We also wish you a happy Christmas to Indonesian members and people who celebrate and Happy New Year 2026 to all Indonesian people. Hopefully 2026 will provide a better, more prosperous, and more peaceful way for all of us. Happy recess and greet the people," said Puan.
