Update On COVID-19 As Of May 1: Patients Are Mostly Male

JAKARTA - Government spokesman for the handling of COVID-19 Achmad Yurianto (Yuri) explained that there was an additional 433 positive cases, as of Friday, May 1. The total number of positive cases reached 10,551 people.

The addition also occurred in the recovered cases as many as 68 patients with a total of 1,591 people. Meanwhile, 8 cases died again with a total of 800 patients.

Likewise, based on the data, the number of people under monitoring (ODP) was 233,120 due to the addition of 2,709 people. Meanwhile, patients under surveillance (PDP) increased by 296 with a total of 22,123 people.

Of the tens of thousands of positive cases, more than half are male patients. For this reason, maintaining personal and environmental hygiene is important to break the chain of spreading COVID-19.

"As many as 10,551 if we look at this data, the proportion of men is 58 percent, women 42 percent means that there are indeed more men who suffer from COVID-19," said Yuri at Graha BNPB, Jakarta, Friday, May 1.

In addition, regarding the examination of specimens using the swab method, based on data as of today, the number has reached 100,000. These specimens came from 76,538 people.

Then, dozens of laboratories scattered throughout Indonesia are ready to be used to examine specimens. Thus, the number of specimens that will be examined will increase and it will be faster.

"We have finished examining 102,305 specimens from around 76,538 people. Today, 89 laboratories are ready to work, some of which are working at their maximum and some of them are still starting a series of work," Yuri concluded.
