The Ministry Of Public Works Said There Were 1,666 Damage Points Due To Floods And Landslides In Sumatra
The Ministry of Public Works (PU) said that the results of identification of damage in locations affected by floods and landslides in Sumatra showed that there were at least 1,666 damage points. West Sumatra is the province with the most damage points.
This was conveyed by Deputy Minister of Public Works Diana Kusumastuti in a Working Meeting (Raker) with Commission V of the DPR RI regarding Infrastructure and Transportation Readiness in the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, December 8.
"Identification of disaster-affected locations in three provinces in Sumatra, this is recorded at 1,666 point of damage," said Diana.
Diana detailed that there were 477 damage points in Aceh, 275 damage points in North Sumatra (North Sumatra) and in West Sumatra (West Sumatra) recorded 914 damage points.
He explained, for Aceh Province, the majority of the damage was dominated by floods of critical embankments. "This Aceh as many as 477 points of damage were dominated by floods of critical embankments 143, landslide 46 and floods of embankments collapsed, there were 36," he said.
For North Sumatra Province, Diana said, the damage points were caused by landslides and the roads were inundated. "In North Sumatra, there are 275 damage points, 113 landslides are dominated, 17 roads are flooded and 13," Diana said.
As for West Sumatra Province, the majority of the damage points were due to landslides and floods. "Meanwhile, West Sumatra has 914 damage points, 203 landslides are dominated, 119 floods and 56 bridges have been eroded," he explained.
The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has released the latest data on Monday, December 8, 2025, regarding flash floods and landslides that hit three provinces on the island of Sumatra.
As of 15.49 WIB, the number of victims who died was recorded at 961 people. In addition, 234 people are still missing and around 5,000 residents are injured.

BNPB reported that at least 52 districts and cities with a total of around 156,500 houses were damaged by the disaster. Public facilities, health, houses of worship, office buildings, bridges and educational facilities were also severely affected.
Through its official website, BNPB detailed that the damage included 1,200 public facilities, 199 health facilities, 534 educational facilities, 420 houses of worship, 234 buildings or offices and 435 bridges.
Most of the victims who died were recorded in Agam Regency, West Sumatra, with 179 people. Followed by North Aceh 138 victims, Central Tapanuli, North Sumatra, 102 victims, and South Tapanuli, North Sumatra, 85 victims.
Meanwhile, the highest number of refugees was in North Aceh with 299,500 residents. Until now, the joint search and rescue (SAR) team is still searching and evacuating in a number of isolated locations due to cut road access.
