Expansion To Southeast Asia, Robinhood Takes Over Buana Capital And Coinvest

JAKARTA - Robinhood Market, Inc., a financial services company from the United States officially acquired PT Buana Capital and PT Traders of Crypto Assets or Coinvest.

This corporate action marks the official entry of Robinhood into the Indonesian market, as well as accelerates the expansion of companies in Southeast Asia and other global markets.

With more than 19 million capital market investors and 17 million crypto investors as of the end of October 2025, Indonesia has emerged as one of the most attractive markets for trading in shares and digital assets. To date, year to date (ytd), the Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) has grown 21.5 percent, becoming the third best performance in ASEAN and seventh in the Asia-Pacific region.

This momentum also encourages the addition of 4.28 million new investors, an increase of 58.4 percent compared to the previous year.

This increase was driven by strong interest from the younger generation who prioritized mobile technology and quickly adopted digital investment platforms.

As for 19 million capital market investors, about 54.25 percent are under 30 years of age, 26.42 percent are between 30 and 41 years old, and the rest are over 41 years old.

In the same period, the transaction value of crypto assets reached IDR 409.56 trillion as of the end of October 2025. In October 2025 alone, crypto asset transactions reached IDR 49.28 trillion, up 27.6 percent on a monthly basis.

Head of the Robinhood section of Asia Patrick Chan said that Indonesia is a rapidly growing market for trade, making it an interesting place to continue Robinhood's mission to democratize finances for everyone.

On the same occasion, the President Director of Buana Capital, Benny Hardiman Setiabrata, revealed that the acquisition of Buana Capital by Robinhood Market is a big step that will strengthen the Indonesian capital market ecosystem.

Through this synergy, it will be easier for the Indonesian people to access global investment, in a more affordable and efficient way. This acquisition also provides a great opportunity to advance financial literacy and inclusion in the country," he said

Benny said with Robinson's experience as proven in bringing more than 26 million users in the US to engage in retail investments, his party believes that this collaboration will bring innovation and ease of access for more Indonesian investors to engage in global capital markets and cryptocurrencies.

Furthermore, after the acquisition of Buana Capital, Robinhood will continue to serve brokerage existing clients with Indonesian financial products. In the long term and with regulatory approval, Robinhood plans to introduce trade services, including access to US shares, global crypto assets, and various other international instruments.
