Police Arrest Rental Car Embezzlement Syndicate At Bali's Ngurah Rai Airport
I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Area Police, Bali, has uncovered a syndicate of car embezzlement that is troubling rental owners in the Ngurah Rai Airport area, Badung Regency, Bali.
The police arrested five people, namely four men with the initials TSA (23), MAN (22), BUD (49), RUD (30) and a woman with the initials RE (47). One perpetrator who is still a fugitive with the initials YS.
"This is a syndicate. Because each profession is different, each has its own portion," said the Head of the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Area Police, Kombes Pol. I Komang Budirtha, Monday, December 8.
This embezzlement case was reported by 3 victims of car rentals, with the initials OD, RAA and DPA. This syndicate took action in October at the domestic terminal of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali.
In handling the case, the police confiscated 3 black Toyota Kijang Innova cars, white Honda Brio Satya 1.2 E CVT CKD, and one white Honda Brio Satya 1.2 E CVT CKD.
The police initially received reports of embezzlement of 1 Toyota Kijang Inova car by the TSA perpetrators.
The perpetrator's mode of renting 1 unit of Toyota Kijang Inova to the victim OD, with a lease period of 3 days on the third floor of the domestic terminal of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport.
The perpetrator paid off the rent of Rp. 1.6 million.
"However, when the date of the rental of the car ended, the victim was unable to contact the perpetrator," he added.
The TSA perpetrator also embezzled a white Brio car on October 4-9 October. But until the maturity date the car was not returned and the car belonged to the DPA victim.
In addition, the perpetrator of the TSA on October 22, again rented 1 unit of Honda Brio to the victim RAA for 3 days.
The perpetrator had asked for an extension of the lease period until October 26, 2025. However, recently the victim received a notification from the GPS monitoring application installed in a disconnected car around Jalan Baypass Tanah Lot in Tabanan Regency, Bali.
"The victim tried to contact the perpetrator, but there was no response. For the total loss of the 3 cars, more than Rp. 750 million," he added.
From the report of the rental owner, the police arrested TSA until the investigation developed with the arrest of other perpetrators including car collectors.
For their actions, the perpetrators were charged with Article 378 of the Criminal Code regarding fraud and or Article 372 of the Criminal Code concerning embezzlement, Article 55 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 56 of the Criminal Code concerning participating or helping to commit criminal acts and Article 480 of the Criminal Code concerning detention.
